Compostable

The Degradable’s fully bio-based packaging is fully compostable because we use fully compostable material - PBAT + PLA material.

Benefits of using bio-based compostable packaging:

1. Compostable packaging provides a great sustainable alternative, opening up an end-of-life route without persistent environmental pollution.

2. Microorganisms (such as bacteria and fungi) absorb the macromolecules as food and utilize them to furl their metabolic processes.

3. The end products  break down completely into carbon dioxide, water, inorganic

compounds and incorporate into the natural cycle.

Plastic pollution is the accumulation of plastic products in the environment that adversely affects wildlife, wildlife habitat and humans. Plastics that act as pollutants are categorized into micro-, meso-, or macro debris, based on size. Plastics are inexpensive and durable, and as a result levels of plastic production by humans are high. Moreover, the chemical structure of most plastics renders them resistant to many natural processes of degradation and as a result they are slow to degrade. Together, these two factors have led to a high prominence of plastic pollution in the environment.

Plastic pollution can afflict land, waterways and oceans. Living organisms, particularly marine animals, can be harmed either by mechanical effects, such as entanglement in plastic objects or problems related to ingestion of plastic waste, or through exposure to chemicals within plastics that interfere with their physiology. Humans are also affected by plastic pollution, such as through disruption of various hormonalmechanisms.

Time to use compostable bags

Composting is the process of breaking down organic waste by microbial digestion to create compost. Compost has many beneficial uses including improving and fertilizing soil. To go through a composting process, organic waste requires the right level of heat, water, and oxygen. In a pile of organic waste, there are millions of tiny microbes that consume the waste, transforming the organic materials into compost. In order to claim that a product is fully compostable, the product has to meet all the requirements in the European Norm EN 13432. Both specifications require that biodegradable/compostable products completely decompose in a composting setting in a specific time frame, leaving no harmful residues behind.

Bio-based Packaging

Bio-based packaging derive from non-petroleum biological resources. The Degradable bio-based material is called Green PE, which is made by the ethanol from sugarcane - which is renewable. It helps reducing the greenhouse gases

emissions and preserve the environment.
